2026 Conference Speakers
Stephanie Hayne Beatty (she/her)
Acting Vice Provost (Students)
Top 5: Woo, Communication, Futuristic, Positivity, Individualization
With nearly 25 years of service to Western University, Stephanie brings a deep passion for student leadership, community engagement, accessibility, and belonging to her role as Acting Vice-Provost (Students). She holds a Bachelor of Journalism from Carleton University, a Master of Education from the University of Calgary, and a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Western. Beginning as a Residence Manager in 2001, Stephanie advanced through Housing & Ancillary Services and Student Experience, most recently as Director, Leadership & Learning. A recipient of the Western Award of Excellence, she launched Western’s Alternative Spring Break program and chaired the United Way Campaign. Stephanie champions Experiential Learning, LifeDesign, and CliftonStrengths, shaping transformative opportunities for students across campus.
Cherin Chung
President, Society of Graduate Students

Cherin Chung is a Ph.D. Candidate in the French Department specializing in 19th century French Literature. More specifically, her research focuses on the works of Georges de Peyrebrune, feminism, and epistolary writing. She previously completed her Master of Arts in French Literature and a Bachelor of English Language and Literature (Honours) and French Studies (Major) at Western University.
Cherin joined SOGS in 2021 at the beginning of her graduate studies as a committee member, the French Councillor, the Equity Committee chair, Racial Equity & Inclusivity Commissioner, and Vice-President Advocacy. As a graduate student leader, Cherin is passionate about ensuring an equitable education for all graduate students at Western . Outside of campus life, Cherin enjoys reading, traveling, and hiking.
Kathleena Henricus (she/her)
President, University Students' Council

Kathleena (Kat) Henricus is the 2025-2026 USC President and CEO, elected by the undergraduate student body to advance initiatives that enhance the student experience and advocate to university administration and all levels of government. She leads a team of five executives aligned with the USC's strategic plan and serves on the Board of Directors to uphold student-centric values.
A recent Western grad with a BA in International Relations and Advanced Arts & Humanities (SASAH), Kathleena held roles on Western's Senate, Board of Governors, and USC leadership before her presidency. Her experience spans Responsible Investment, Public Service, and Canadian Broadcasting. A King Charles III Coronation Medal recipient and former Canadian Delegate to the G7 Youth Forum, she champions human rights, equal access, and community impact.
Meg Fowler (she/her)
Meg Fowler, a proud Western graduate and former Varsity swim captain, grew up immersed in sport and remains a dedicated Mustang supporter. Her marketing career in Toronto included expanding Run for the Cure nationwide, roles at the Canadian Olympic Committee and Coca-Cola, and serving as Director of Marketing at CBC Television. Passionate about film, she chaired TIFF's Film Crew and was an ex-officio board member. After a near-fatal car accident in 2004 caused a traumatic brain injury, Meg relocated to Doha, Qatar (2007–10), where she helped organize the first Terry Fox Run in Qatar and volunteered at the Museum of Islamic Art and Sunbeam International School. Returning to London in 2014, she shares her recovery journey through IMPACT and actively supports local organizations, including the Forest City Film Festival board. An avid swimmer, skier, and former dragon boat racer, Meg is committed to helping others navigate life transitions.
Rebecca Smith (she/her)
Manager, Student Life (Student Experience)

Rebecca Smith is an experienced student affairs professional who works with some of the nation's highest-achieving students. As an engaging facilitator, she focuses on wellness and social impact topics, including safeTALK, ASIST, and customized presentations for campus communities. Her signature program, Strengths-Based Leadership for Mental Wellness, helps leaders use their strengths to promote well-being in professional roles.
Rebecca's positive energy and genuine care for student, staff, and faculty well-being have earned her trust and respect campus-wide. She raises awareness with mental health trainings and equips community members with resources to support those in need. With a background in Sociology and Religious Studies, Rebecca is currently completing studies in Grief, Loss, and Bereavement.
Alex Elias (he/him)
Associate Director, Career Coaching (Ivey Business School)

Alex Elias is a Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach (since 2019) and an International Coaching Federation (ICF) PCC Candidate with over 120 hours of coach training and more than 500 individual coaching hours annually. Over the past five years, he has coached more than 3,000 individuals and 50 teams, helping them unlock their potential through strengths-based approaches.
Alex has been recognized with several awards, including the Ivey Business School MBAA Impact Award (2025), the Don Clifton Strengths for Students Award (2023) and the Influence Digest Top 15 Coach in London, Ontario (2023, 2025). In addition to his coaching expertise, Alex holds certifications in Positive Psychology, Emerging Leadership (Ivey Business School), Stanford Life Design, Career Development and Mental Health First Aid.
Calandra Van Massenhoven (she/her)
Coordinator - Student Experience & Engagement (Student Experience)

From donkey research to higher education, Calandra Van Massenhoven has leveraged her Strengths to adapt and thrive across niche industries. She earned a Bachelor of Bio-Resource Management from the University of Guelph and a Masters of Science in Equine Performance, Health, and Welfare from Nottingham Trent University. Her experiences in Canadian and British post-secondary systems inspired a shift toward higher education, focusing on student support, program development, and academic enrichment.
As Coordinator, Student Experience and Engagement at Western, Calandra oversees Scholars' Programs and Launch Peer Mentorship Programs, prioritizing student input in program design. A firm believer in the power of individual strengths, she fosters campus relationships and drives growth through strategic planning and intentional feedback.
David Feeney (he/him)
Career Coach (Student Experience)

David is a seasoned career development practitioner, assisting students in navigating a path to help them fulfill their career goals. David holds an undergraduate degree from Western, as well as a Masters from Queen's - both in English Language and Literature. David is committed to supporting students in their journey toward a meaningful life and career.
Leslie Gloor Duncan (she/her)
Associate Director, Transition, Leadership & Enrichment (Student Experience)

Leslie Gloor Duncan is the Associate Director of Transition, Leadership, and Enrichment in Student Experience at Western. With over 23 years of experience in student affairs, Leslie has supported thousands of students in discovering their strengths and pursuing their passions. A lifelong learner, she holds an Honours BA from Western and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of Calgary. Leslie is a CliftonStrengths Certified Coach, an ASIST Suicide First Aid trainer, and a passionate advocate for Positive Psychology. Her work is grounded in helping students thrive—academically, personally, and professionally.
Meghan O’Hara (she/her)
Program Specialist, Graduate Student Life (Student Experience)

Meghan O'Hara is Program Specialist, Graduate Student Life. She holds a PhD in English from Western University and is a Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach. After completing her PhD in 2017, she transitioned from an academic career path, instead starting her career working at the Grand Theatre as Education and Outreach Coordinator. Since returning to higher education and to Western, Meghan has worked in multiple areas of Student Experience, including Community Engaged Learning, and as the Strengths Coordinator, where she was part of the Western team that won the Don Clifton Strengths for Students award. Meghan now uses her strengths to help graduate students transition to, navigate, and be successful during their studies at Western.
Moe Zeidan (he/him)
Manager, Administration & Finance (Student Experience)

Moe Zeidan is the Manager of Administration & Finance, overseeing budgeting, financial operations, technology and strategic planning for Student Experience. Moe holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Saint Mary's University and an MBA from Dalhousie University. Prior to his current role, he worked in management consulting at Bluenose Business Solutions, specializing in financial advisory, tax strategy, direct foreign investment, and financial information systems integration.
Outside of work, Moe is a proud young father to Layla and Jenna. He enjoys reading, spending quality time with his friends and family, and the occasion video game.

Who can attend this conference?
Anyone! Geared towards current Western students (part-time or full-time), faculty/staff, alumni and other community members (including Fanshawe students) - but anyone is welcome.
Is this conference offered in a virtual format? Will this conference be recorded?
No, this will be an in-person event. It will not be recorded.
Am I required to take the CliftonStrengths assessment before?
We highly recommend that all participants complete the assessment prior to the conference. You will be sent a code as part of your registration fee.
Is parking available on campus?
Yes, visitor lots are available for no cost on the weekend. Registrants will be sent further details. You can find more information on campus parking here.

Can I refund my ticket?
No, due to the costs associated with materials, catering and CliftonStrengths assessments, we are unable to offer refunds for cancellations.
